Florin Marica brings his international acclaim and expertise in training top juniors to the Florin Marica Tennis Academy. After a successful career as a top ranked player in Romania, Florin moved to California where he began to work with young players. His optimistic attitude and experience in working with all ages enables Florin to provide moral support, crucial training tips, and strategic advantages for young people to succeed both on and off the court. Many of Florin‘s students have gone on to become Top 10 USTA Juniors and now play at the collegiate level and top universities. Florin‘s goal goes beyond helping young people win matches—he wants to mentor young people so that tennis positively impacts all areas of their life.

Adrian Escarate

Tennis Coach

My name is Adrian Escarate, born in Santiago, Chile, but grew up in Miami, Florida from the age of three. Started playing tennis competitively from an early age earning an academic and athletic college scholarships to attend University of North Florida and graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Communications Arts from St. Thomas University. Began teaching tennis full-time soon after in different areas of south Florida while also going back to St. Thomas University to pursue a Master’s degree in Communications and serving as the St. Thomas University Men’s and Women’s Tennis Team assistant coach.

In the last three years, I have been able to serve as a practice/hitting partner for the Miami Open and was invited to the Cincinnati Open and US Open in 2018 as a practice/hitting partner as well. I have been able to train and practice with elite ATP/WTA players such as Roger Federer, Kei Nishikori, Daniil Medvedev, Grigor Dimitrov, Nicolas Mahut, Ashleigh Barty, Petra Martic, Yulia Putintseva, Pablo Carreno-Busta, Felix Auger-Aliassime, and many more.

Jonathan Chui

Tennis Coach

Former student of Florin Marica, Jon has trained among the top Northern California juniors.Since 2012 Jon has been a major figure to many players at the academy inspiring them to be better everyday they practice. He brings a true passion in helping the academy bring players to the next level. His attention to detail and determination in helping students is a great asset to the academy.

Jonathan specializes in youth tennis helping young players learn technique and building a proper foundation for their tennis game. He focuses on both teaching his students on both the physical and the mental side while keeping a fun and upbeat environment. Many current attending students both younger and older have gained a passion for tennis from Jonathan.

Elliot Leung

Tennis Coach

At the age of 9, Elliot began taking tennis lessons from Florin Marica. It was with Florin where Elliot would learn to love tennis and would be pushed to become the best player he could be. After a few years, Elliot earned a spot on the Varsity tennis team at Saint Francis High School as a freshman and quickly moved up the ranks. By his sophomore year of high school, he would play #1 singles and would retain his spot for the next three years. During his senior year of high school, Elliot started coaching for Florin and instantly realized his passion for working with children. Elliot graduated from Saint Mary’s College of California with a Bachelor’s in Health Sciences. With his extensive knowledge of injury prevention and child development, Elliot provides a safe and engaging coaching environment while providing solid foundation.
